Project Description

Kevin & Julia’s La Grange Basement Remodel

Project Details

Most of this basement consisted of crawl space, so making the most of the remaining living space was paramount in the design. The laundry was moved upstairs, so that we could add a wet bar and a 3-piece bathroom.  The homeowners were involved with the design and had a good idea of what the overall look of the space should be.  This enabled us to push the boundaries with the tile choices, cabinet colors, and other fun details of the project.

These homeowners really wanted to make a comfortable space for the family to be together; the TV lounge space had to be large enough to fit an oversized sectional. They had hopes of adding a fireplace as well, but in the end decided against, so they could get a larger lounge area. Storage and a play space was very important since they had accumulated a lot of toys over the years.  Two additional unfinished storage areas were included to accommodate the growing family needs, as well as strategically placed closets and cabinetry.  An expansive wet bar that included a full size refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave doubled as a second kitchen and over flow area from the kitchen upstairs.
