About This Space
The Westhaven primary bath was designed with the same guiding principles as the kitchen and adjacent living spaces: material continuity, restraint, and warmth. Rather than introducing an entirely new palette, the design carries forward Rift White Oak elements, defined by their vertical grain and Tatami stain. This consistency reinforces a sense of cohesion, allowing the primary bath to feel integrated within the home’s overall architectural language.
MSI Calacatta Castana quartz continues into the space as a unifying surface, bringing subtle veining and a soft visual texture. Its refined appearance enhances the minimalist aesthetic while maintaining durability and ease of maintenance: key considerations for a primary bath environment.
The design approach emphasizes clarity over complexity. By limiting the number of materials and focusing on their application, the space achieves a quiet elegance. The repetition of finishes seen throughout the home ensures the primary bath does not feel disconnected, but rather like a natural extension of the broader design vision.
This results in a space that feels calm and intentional: supporting daily routines while offering a sense of retreat. The balance of warm wood tones and soft stone surfaces creates a timeless environment where simplicity is elevated through thoughtful execution.

What defines a minimalist primary bathroom?
A minimalist primary bathroom focuses on a limited palette of materials, clean lines, and functional design. Instead of layering multiple finishes, it emphasizes simplicity, allowing high-quality materials to stand out.
Is quartz a good choice for a bathroom?
Quartz is a durable, low-maintenance material that resists moisture and staining, making it well-suited for bathroom applications. It also provides a clean, refined appearance that aligns with minimalist design principles.
How does wood contribute to a bathroom design?
Wood introduces warmth and natural texture, balancing the clean surfaces typically found in bathrooms. When used thoughtfully, it softens the space and creates a more inviting, spa-like atmosphere.
