The Columbia kitchen was designed around a premise that most kitchens avoid: commit to a color. Jasper, Sherwin Williams' deep, rich green on CWP Shaker Recessed perimeter cabinetry, is not a kitchen color that hedges. It fills the room with the warmth and depth of a material that has a point of view, and it demands that everything else in the room rise to meet it.

White Oak in a Champagne Matte finish on the island and coffee bar provides the natural wood counterpoint that Jasper requires. The Champagne Matte finish on White Oak reads as warm and current: a stain that brings out the oak's natural grain without pushing it toward honey or amber. The island is the kitchen's gathering point, and its natural wood surface connects the room's deep green cabinetry to the organic warmth that runs through the home's nine spaces.

Valiant Quartz Tech Calacatta Troy with mitered 2-inch edges provides the countertop program in a quartz with bold, flowing veining on a white ground. The 2-inch mitered edge is a fabrication decision that gives the countertop the visual presence of a much thicker slab: the edge reads as substantial and architectural rather than standard. The waterfall on the island takes the Calacatta Troy down the island's end face, turning the countertop into a monument and making the island read as one continuous slab surface from the top to the floor. A full-height splash on the range wall carries the quartz surface up the cooking wall, eliminating the transition to backsplash tile at that zone and creating a seamless material surface at the kitchen's most-used vertical plane.
