About This Space
The Foxboro Estates kitchen began as a room of dark, heavy cabinetry, cream floor tile and white solid-surface counters illuminated by a boxy fluorescent fixture. The storied charm remodel replaced that closed-in feeling with a lighter, more inviting palette centered around natural white oak cabinetry.
The rift-sawn white oak has a straight, quiet grain that allows the wood to feel warm and natural without becoming overly ornate. A simple recessed door and drawer profile keeps the cabinetry clean and timeless, allowing the character of the room to come from the wood tone, proportions and carefully selected materials rather than excessive decoration.
Blue-gray natural quartzite covers the perimeter and island, creating a cool contrast to the warmth of the oak. Its soft blue-gray tones and dark mineral veining add depth and movement while preventing the kitchen from feeling too warm or monochromatic. The eased countertop edge keeps the stone profile simple and complements the clean cabinetry.
A soft gray backsplash provides a quiet backdrop behind the cooking area. Its subtle satin finish and light grout allow the stone countertops and statement range hood to remain the visual focus while adding just enough texture to keep the walls from feeling flat.
Warm brass hardware brings a subtle glow to the cabinetry, while a combination of metal finishes adds depth throughout the kitchen. The statement range hood pairs stainless steel with brass detailing, creating a handcrafted, collected feel that fits the home's storied character. At the sink, a white granite basin and antique nickel fixtures introduce a cooler counterpoint to the warmer brass, creating a layered combination of finishes rather than a perfectly matched set.
Together, the natural oak, blue-gray stone, soft backsplash tile and layered metal finishes create a kitchen that feels collected over time while remaining fresh and functional. The result is a space that feels lighter than the original kitchen without losing the warmth and character that define the storied charm design.

What is rift-sawn white oak cabinetry?
Rift-sawn white oak is cut to create a tight, straight grain with minimal cathedral-like patterns. In this Foxboro Estates kitchen, the natural wood finish keeps the cabinetry light and warm, while the clean grain complements the simple recessed-panel door style.
What is caldera blue quartzite?
Caldera blue quartzite is a natural stone countertop with soft blue-gray tones and distinctive dark mineral veining. In this kitchen, the cool-toned surface creates contrast against the warmth of the natural wood cabinetry while adding movement and character to the design.
