Sebring Design Build transformed this Columbia, Tennessee primary bath with a transitional-bold aesthetic anchored by White Oak quarter-sawn cabinetry in Tatami, Q-Quartz Calacatta Monaco countertops, and a bold tile system pairing Neomi White Matte porcelain with a Kenridge Ribbon Black feature wall. About This Space
The Wilson primary bath arrived as a conventional room: functional, unremarkable, and completely at odds with the design direction the rest of the home was moving toward. The remodel's task was to create a bath that felt like a genuine retreat without abandoning the warmth and material quality that a home like this demands.
White Oak quarter-sawn cabinetry in Tatami sets the tone. Quarter-sawn milling produces a tighter, more consistent grain with distinctive ray fleck patterning that gives the vanity real material presence without requiring ornament. The Extra Dull Varnish finish allows the natural character of the wood to read clearly. Marginal overlay construction and recessed doors keep the geometry clean, placing the room firmly in transitional territory: traditional warmth, modern discipline.
Q-Quartz Calacatta Monaco on the countertop introduces soft veining and movement above the warm wood, a combination that reads as considered and luxurious without requiring a precious material. The Kohler undermount sink in white sits cleanly within the vanity, and the Delta Saylor widespread faucet in Champagne Bronze completes the vanity in a finish that bridges the oak below and the tile behind.
The tile system is where the bold element arrives. Sofia Charcoal 31 x 31 porcelain from Tile Shop anchors the floor with a large-format surface that grounds the room in a dark, confident tone. The shower side walls and vanity walls are finished in Neomi White Matte 12 x 24 porcelain, keeping those surfaces open and luminous. The back shower wall shifts to Kenridge Ribbon Black 24 x 48 matte wood-look tile: a material with the scale and visual weight to serve as the room's defining moment. Adoni Black 2 x 2 slate on the shower floor completes the suite with a surface that provides grip and organic texture underfoot.
Top Knobs hardware in the Bit Pull profile, available in both Flat Black and Honey Bronze, appears at the cabinetry in two sizes. The two-tone hardware system reinforces the room's core tension: dark and warm, modern and natural, in careful balance throughout.

Common Questions
Questions Homeowners Ask About This Space
What tile combination works in a transitional-bold primary bath?
A layered tile system with a strong anchor piece defines a transitional-bold primary bath. Neomi White Matte porcelain on the shower side walls and vanity keeps the space light. A wood-look tile like Kenridge Ribbon Black on the back shower wall creates the bold focal point. Large-format charcoal floor tile grounds the room without competing.
What is White Oak quarter-sawn cabinetry?
Quarter-sawn White Oak is milled at a perpendicular angle to the growth rings, producing a tighter, more consistent grain with distinctive ray fleck patterns. In a bathroom setting, it provides natural warmth and organic texture while remaining dimensionally stable in humidity-variable environments. It is among the most refined cabinetry materials available for high-end bath remodels.
