About This Space
A laundry room that earns its design investment is one that makes every task performed in it feel less like a chore. In this Franklin home, the room does that through three decisions made in sequence, each one building on the last: a two-tone cabinetry program with a clear visual hierarchy, a floor tile that demands to be noticed, and hardware that holds the palette together at every door and drawer.
CWP Highlander Recessed cabinetry in a marginal overlay profile gives the room its structural foundation. The Highlander Recessed door profile is clean and architectural: a solid panel door with a recessed center that reads as refined without being ornate. The locker-style lower cabinetry in SW Little Boy Blue provides the room's defining color: a soft, muted blue with enough depth to read as genuinely designed rather than casually chosen. Little Boy Blue has the quality of a color that gets better the longer you spend in the room. The upper cabinetry in Mist keeps the room luminous above the lockers, preventing the blue from reading as heavy and allowing the ceiling height to work in the room's favor.
Belwith Keeler hardware in Warm Brass appears at every cabinet and drawer position. Warm Brass is the correct hardware choice alongside Little Boy Blue and Mist: it introduces the metallic warmth that both colors call for without pulling toward either Gold (too yellow) or Honey Bronze (too dark). The combination of dusty blue cabinetry and warm brass hardware is one of the most reliably sophisticated pairings in laundry room design, and here it is executed with the material specificity that makes it feel considered rather than formulaic.
Tile Shop Annie Selke Flora 18 x 18 in Coconut Milk on the floor is the room's most unexpected and most rewarding decision. At 18 x 18, the tile's botanical print pattern reads at a scale that fills the floor with visual interest rather than retreating into the background. Coconut Milk is a warm white with a softness that complements the Mist cabinetry above it. The pattern introduces the organic warmth of a design that knows laundry rooms are rooms worth caring about. The floor is the first thing seen upon entering and the last thing remembered when leaving. In this room, it earns both moments.

Common Questions
Questions Homeowners Ask About This Space
What is Annie Selke Flora tile?
Annie Selke Flora is an 18 x 18 patterned porcelain tile in the Coconut Milk colorway: a warm white ground with a delicate botanical print pattern. At 18 x 18, it reads as a large-format tile with the visual interest of a pattern that rewards close attention without overwhelming a room. In a laundry room, it transforms the floor into the room's most distinctive design element.
What is SW Little Boy Blue cabinetry finish?
Sherwin Williams Little Boy Blue is a soft, dusty blue with a slightly muted quality that reads as both classic and current. In a laundry room paired with Mist white upper cabinetry and Warm Brass hardware, it creates a two-tone palette with the warmth of a traditionally styled room and the restraint of a contemporary material language. It is the color that gives this project its identity.
What makes a two-tone laundry room work?
Two-tone cabinetry succeeds when the two colors have a clear visual hierarchy: one color dominates and the other accents. Here, Mist white on the upper cabinetry keeps the room luminous while Little Boy Blue on the locker-style lower cabinetry provides depth and personality at the room's most visible zone. Warm Brass hardware unifies both finishes through a single metallic note that reads as warm alongside both colors.
