The Kitchen at Our Brentwood Transitional Organic Remodel

The Brentwood kitchen arrived constrained by its own architecture: angled walls and a peninsula that made the room tight and nonfunctional for a household that gathered there daily. Removing the angled walls and soffits was the structural decision that made everything else possible, turning a kitchen organized around its limitations into one organized around its potential.

CWP cabinetry in two finishes establishes the room's material identity. Swiss Coffee on the perimeter provides the kitchen with a soft, warm white that reads as luminous and fresh: not the cold brightness of a pure white, but the gentle warmth of a white that belongs to an organic palette. Hickory Praline stain on the accent positions, the sink bump out, the full-height bifold cabinet, the floating shelves, the glass front cabinet interiors, and the shiplap on the back of the island cabinetry, provides the kitchen's warmth in the material that best delivers it. Hickory's dramatic grain variation and Praline's caramel stain create a wood surface that reads as genuinely organic: the kind of wood that rewards close attention and improves with age. The shiplap panel on the island back is the room's most casual material reference, a relaxed, textural element that prevents the kitchen from reading as purely formal.

A custom 48-inch range with a custom-designed metal hood is the room's focal point from the moment of entry. The hood's architectural presence and handcrafted character give the cooking wall the authority that a kitchen organized around hospitality requires: a centerpiece that reads as both functional and designed. The updated peninsula provides improved, more functional seating that allows the kitchen to serve as the household's gathering point rather than a space guests navigate around.

Caesarstone Calacatta Nuvo polished quartz on the countertops provides the horizontal surfaces in a bright white quartz with bold, flowing grey veining. The polished finish contributes to the room's luminosity and connects to the Champagne Bronze fixture program above it. Riad Tile Zellige in a Glazed Clay 2x6 format covers the backsplash in the room's most distinctive material: handmade Moroccan clay tiles with hand-applied glaze, natural color variation, and surface irregularity that no manufactured tile can replicate. Glazed Clay's earthy, warm-toned surface provides the textural and material warmth that completes the kitchen's organic identity. The Delta Cassidy faucet in Champagne Bronze connects the sink fixture to the kitchen's warm metallic program, and Top Knobs Cumberland Pulls and Essex Knobs in Honey Bronze complete the hardware at every door and drawer in a warm gold tone that reads as natural and crafted alongside the Hickory cabinetry it occupies.
