The Story

About This Space

The bar in this Brentwood basement was designed to do the one thing a basement bar most needs to do: make every occasion feel like one. It accomplishes this through a material program that treats the bar as a serious room rather than a furnished corner, and through the integration of the wine cellar as a visual and functional element of the bar itself rather than a separate storage consideration.

Bellmont 1600 Synchro cabinetry in the Terra door style and Coastal finish provides the bar base cabinets in a textured laminate that reads as warm, organic, and contemporary: the visual warmth of wood grain in a material that handles the humidity and temperature variation of a below-grade environment without complaint. The Bellmont 1900 wine cabinetry in a Seaside door style and Olympic finish provides the wine storage in a complementary but distinct profile, designating that zone as something designed for the bottles it holds rather than as general cabinetry that happens to store wine. The two Bellmont lines in conversation with each other give the bar a visual layering that a single-finish cabinetry program cannot produce.

Cambria Blackpool matte quartz on the bar counter provides the surface in the room's deepest and most confident material tone. A black matte countertop on a bar is a choice that reads as decisive: it does not hedge toward the neutral, and it handles the daily reality of a working bar with less visual evidence than any lighter alternative. Amerock Bar Pulls in Matte Black complete the hardware program at every door and drawer, carrying the dark metallic tone continuously from the countertop edge to the cabinetry face.

Common Questions

Questions Homeowners Ask About This Space

What is an integrated wine cellar in a basement bar?

An integrated wine cellar positions the wine storage as a designed element within the bar rather than a separate utility space. Dedicated cabinetry in a complementary finish, proper climate and humidity control, and thoughtful lighting make the wine collection part of the bar's visual identity. In this Brentwood project, Bellmont 1900 Seaside Olympic cabinetry gives the wine storage a distinct material presence that reads as a room within a room.

Why use Cambria Blackpool for a basement bar countertop?

Cambria Blackpool in a matte finish provides a bar counter with the visual drama that a well-designed basement bar deserves. Dark countertops on a bar are practical, they conceal the marks of regular entertaining use more forgivingly than white or light surfaces, and Blackpool's deep ground with subtle white veining gives the bar a material quality that reads as deliberately chosen rather than default. Matte finish keeps the surface from becoming a mirror under artificial lighting.
