About This Space
The kitchen began with a layout problem. The original U-shape compressed the space and made the room feel smaller than it was. Removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room opened the floor plan and gave the new L-shape layout room to breathe.
Three cabinet finishes carry the design. Soft white base cabinets anchor the perimeter. Dune on the upper cabinets and pantries adds warmth without competing. Puget Sound blue on the island gives the kitchen a focal point that reads confidently without dominating the room. Together the three tones coordinate naturally and carry no expiration date.
Custom Wood Products cabinetry in Craftsman door style with slab drawers brought the right level of detail: present enough to register, restrained enough to stay out of the way. Calacatta Aria quartz in a polished finish gives the countertops movement and light. Berenson Metro hardware in a modern finish runs through the space consistently, keeping every drawer and door from becoming a decision in isolation.

Common Questions
Questions Homeowners Ask About This Space
What cabinetry was used in this Franklin kitchen?
The cabinetry is Custom Wood Products with a Craftsman door style and slab drawers. The perimeter is finished in Soft White, upper cabinets and pantries in Dune, and the island in Puget Sound. All three finishes coordinate without competing, giving the kitchen a balanced, timeless palette.
What countertop was selected for this kitchen?
The countertops are Calacatta Aria quartz by Orion with a polished finish. The subtle veining ties the light perimeter cabinetry and the Puget Sound island together without competing with either material.
Why was the U-shape kitchen changed to an L-shape?
The original U-shape made the kitchen feel smaller than it was and limited how people could move through the space. The new L-shape with a freestanding island opened the floor plan, created defined cooking and gathering zones, and connected the kitchen visually to the adjacent dining area.
